Little Duckies Philosophy
Little Duckies Daycare is a reputable, family-oriented child care & pre-school located in the Girard Estates Neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Our primary mission is to offer support and guidance to children of mixed ages; to enable exploration & discovery of each child’s abilities & imagination; and to promote enjoyment, respect & understanding of the environment. We apply a diverse approach to child development that promotes emotional & cognitive growth, positive social behavior, respect, friendship, and problem solving. We provide a combination of structured, hands on activities & free-play in spaces conducive to complex play, behavior and interaction. We emphasize early school readiness by teaching language, literacy and basic math skills that prepare children for the next stage in their education & development. We advocate an appreciation of music, literature & the visual arts. We support the needs of our families and encourage parent participation. We firmly believe the knowledge and experience each child achieves in the toddler and pre-school years can stimulate a life-long passion for learning.

Infant care
Infants starting at two months of age are accepted. Appropriate toys will be available for the infant. A daily report will be made including what time the child went to sleep, what times he/she ate, each diaper change and any other information pertaining to that child. Little Duckies staff makes sure that the infants are held, nurtured and loved.

Toddler care
Toddlers start at age 1 to 2 years old are accepted.Play has long been recognized as children’s primary means of exploring their own developing senses and interpretations of the world outside of themselves. Play brings joy & delight and enlivens a child’s spirit. Play provides an opportunity for each child to creatively express their own knowledge and feelings with others. It has been demonstrated time and again that children learn best when allowed to play & explore at their own pace, in a safe and welcoming environment. Little Duckies Daycare aspires to provide each child with such a spirited place, that expands each child’s sense of possibility and wonder while offering the genuine love, care and attention each child rightly deserves. We also teach them social/emotional development, basic shapes, colors, numbers and literacy! They will be well prepared for our Preschool Program!

Preschool
The preschool children (2 to 5 years of age) read and write, learn the months of the year and days of the week, counting to 100, telling time, counting money, opposites and rhyming words, science, weekly homework books and much more! We also have a Smart Board that allows the children to use technology in a fun and educational way.

We provide breakfast and afternoon snack.

Additional activities
Each month we have music class for all of the classrooms. Ms. Julie provides a wide range of music and activities based on each age group. We also take weekly trips to the local library for reading time and other activities the librarian provides. We utilize the gated outdoor area for the children to play. TUITION RATES AS FOLLOWS: Infant full time $375 part time $350 Toddler full time $375 part time $350 Preschool Full time $350 part time $325 (WEEKLY RATES)
